Senior NetApp Engineer
Johannesburg North, Johannesburg – Gauteng – South Africa
Hybrid: 2–3 days in office per week. We are looking for a highly skilled Senior NetApp Engineer to lead enterprise-grade storage infrastructure initiatives. This hybrid role requires strong technical leadership, deep expertise in NetApp ONTAP, and a passion for mentoring and driving performance.
Experience Required:
- 3–5 years’ hands-on experience in NetApp ONTAP environments within large enterprise settings.
- Strong background in block and file-based storage protocols (SMB, NFS, CIFS).
- 8–10 years in storage and backup environments (preferred).
Certifications & Technical Skills:
- NetApp Certified Data Administrator ONTAP (NCDA) is essential.
- Additional NetApp certifications: NCSE, NCIE, NAHSE.
- Veritas InfoScale (Availability & Storage), Veritas NetBackup, Linux/Unix.
- SAN certifications across vendors (preferred).
- DELL EMC storage experience will also be considered favourably.
- Minimum NQF 4 qualifications; NQF 5 or higher preferred.
- NetApp certifications: NCDA, NCSE, NCIE, NAHSE (essential).
- Competency in Veritas InfoScale (Availability & Storage), NetBackup, and Linux/Unix.
- SAN certifications across vendors (preferred).
- Minimum NQF 4 qualifications; NQF 5 or higher preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of enterprise SAN/NAS storage environments.
- Manage escalations and advanced troubleshooting across NetApp ONTAP platforms.
- Configure and maintain storage controllers, Fibre Channel networks, and disk arrays.
- Optimise storage performance across SMB, NFS, and CIFS protocols.
- Mentor mid-level engineers and contribute to technical knowledge sharing.
Support strategic decisions on enterprise storage and backup architecture.
