Senior Manager: Strategic Sourcing

You will be responsible for crafting and implementing a comprehensive three-year sourcing strategy for raw materials across all business units. The specific technical and operational requirements inform each unit’s strategy and integrate industry best practices and market technologies.
 
The role involves collaboration with the Strategy team to align with long-term goals, focusing on cost-effective sourcing of primary and secondary raw materials, scrap, and logistics. It requires ongoing market assessments to optimise the supply chain and ensure the lowest cost of ownership for operations.
 
Additionally, this role entails establishing sourcing agreements, mitigating supply chain risks, and maintaining strong stakeholder communication to support strategic objectives.
 
Qualifications:
  • Applicable B. Honours or B. Eng Degree (NQF 8)
  • Metallurgical discipline would be an added advantage
 
Experience and Skills:
  • 12 years of relevant experience in an operational environment or relevant technical environment
  • Experience within a Commercial environment, as well as Supply Chain exposure or experience, is a pre-requisite
  • Sound metallurgical knowledge and supporting knowledge relating to Supply Chain management
  • Knowledge of the principles of the Mining Charter and BBBEE (Codes of Good Practice)
  • Knowledge of value in use, continuous improvement and project management practices
  • Understand the role of procurement in a steelmaking environment
  • Innovative intuitive with the ability to anticipate, interpret and unravel complex issues impacting the raw material requirements
  • Strong ability to influence, inspire and motivate organisation-wide on cost reduction models and initiatives.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain good human and interpersonal relations at all levels
