You will design, programme and commission complex automation systems for a Pinetown manufacturer. The work is hands-on and technically demanding, with frequent international travel.
Technical Requirements
- High-level PLC and HMI programming in structured text
- Multi-axis motion, servo motor and axis control
- EtherCAT, IO-Link and Modbus communication protocols
- Safety circuit design to recognised standards
- Panel design, wiring diagrams, hardware and sensor specification
- Ladder-only programming does not meet this requirement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Trade-tested electrician (Red Seal) essential
- Five years in an automation environment
- Five years programming complex systems
- Willing to travel internationally, frequently
- Electrical Engineers with specialised automation programming considered
Core Responsibilities
- Design automation processes end-to-end
- Specify hardware, control components and sensors
- Programme PLCs and HMIs on multi-axis systems
- Commission systems locally and abroad, and resolve faults
