Production Manager

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will oversee and optimise all manufacturing operations to ensure compliance with quality, environmental, and safety standards, while achieving key production targets. You will lead and optimise end-to-end manufacturing operations within a fast-paced plastics manufacturing environment. This role ensures production targets are consistently met while aligning with quality, environmental, and health & safety standards. You will bring a hands-on leadership approach, technical excellence in injection moulding, and a passion for continuous improvement.
Qualifications, Experience & Technical Skills
- Technical Diploma or Degree relevant to Manufacturing /Production and Lean manufacturing principles.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in injection moulding machine setting and optimisation
- At least 3 years’ supervisory experience in a plastics manufacturing environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with database and reporting systems preferred
- Solid understanding of QMS, EMS, ISO 9001:2015, and production efficiency metrics
- South African citizen with a valid Code 08 driver’s licence
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all production operations, including staff, planning, and machine setting optimisation
- Oversee injection moulding equipment and ancillary systems to achieve production objectives
- Maintain compliance with QMS, EMS, and HSE standards, halting production when necessary
- Monitor performance metrics (scrap% %, cycle time, absenteeism) and implement improvement initiatives
- Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues and drive process and product enhancements
- Maintain accurate production documentation and ensure staff training aligns with operational needs
- Engage in formal audits, customer release reviews, and production scheduling
