Reporting to the Operations Executive you will be required to oversee all operational functions of the Packing Plant to ensure proper operational controls. To manage the safe and cost-effective execution of all the production processes, including but not limited to receiving and safe storage of raw and packaging materials, to achieve business objectives.
Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Degree or Diploma (Chemical/Industrial Engineering/ Food Sciences)
- Advantageous qualifications: Operations Management/Project Management Qualification
- 5 – 10 years of relevant experience in a related role within the food processing and manufacturing environment
- Management of a team – minimum of three years at various levels
- Understand basic electrical and mechanical engineering principles and systems
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment
- Demonstrate an understanding of production, principles, methodologies and processes
- Demonstrate an understanding of heating and cooling procedures
- Demonstrate an understanding of HACCP principles
- Demonstrate an understanding of Quality Control in the Production environment
- Change management – Implementation, and management of changes impacting both internal and external parties
- Project management – Implementation, and management of projects involving both internal and external parties
- MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), MS Projects and SAP essential
Key Result Areas:
- Provide input into the manufacturing strategy
- Manage the production & processing facilities and processes
- Manage raw and packaging materials and products in the packing plant
- Ensure that the production plan meets customers’ requirements
- Monitor Capacity Utilisation, make recommendations and implement improvements
- Monitor inefficiencies, make recommendations and implement improvements
- Monitor Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE), make recommendations and implement improvements
- Conduct Internal Audits:
- Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP)
- Monitor and keep up to date with changes in legislation and ensure compliance
- Plan resources required and daily priorities of the unit per the production plan
- Achieve production targets as per the Production Plan
- Optimise the plant and achieve prescribed operational efficiencies and identify and eliminate unaccounted losses
- Manage a project team for a technical project to deliver project objectives
- Implement Lean 6 Sigma projects and initiatives
- Drive process optimisation and continuous improvements
