A multinational organisation operating in a matrixed environment is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead site-based HR delivery across Southern Africa. This is a senior generalist role requiring strong governance, independence, and the confidence to challenge leadership when decisions fall outside policy, legislation, or agreed HR frameworks.
 
The role sits on the local Leadership Team and acts as the primary HR advisor to site and business leaders, balancing global HR standards with South African operational and legislative realities. You will oversee end-to-end HR operations, labour relations, compliance, payroll, and people development, while delivering local transformation initiatives aligned to global HR strategy.
 
Non-Negotiable Requirements
  • Degree in Human Resources
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an HR Manager
  • Proven experience in a multinational, matrixed environment
  • Experience working across multiple African countries would be advantageous  
  • Strong SA labour law expertise (including MIBCO and unions)
  • High professional credibility, sound judgement, and strong consulting capability
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Advise and coach leadership on HR, ER/LR, performance, and engagement
  • Full-cycle recruitment, including blue-collar hiring
  • Manage labour relations, unions, bargaining councils, CCMA cases, and disputes
  • Ensure compliance with SA labour legislation, EE, Skills Development, and BBBEE
  • Own site HR budgets, KPIs, and local HR projects
  • Lead payroll and HR systems administration
  • Drive training, EE transformation, and organisational development initiatives
