Environmental Specialist

Durban (with Regional Travel). A key position has become available for an experienced Environmental Specialist to take ownership of environmental compliance across a network of industrial operations. Reporting to the Assistant SHE Manager, this role is central to maintaining regulatory alignment, driving ISO 14001 systems, and ensuring that Environmental Management Programme Reports are accurately maintained and applied. The role suits a driven professional with strong technical knowledge, the ability to work independently, and the confidence to engage with multiple stakeholders. Frequent regional travel is required.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Matric and BSc in Environmental Science
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in manufacturing, consultancy, or government environmental roles.
- Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport
Technical Competencies
- In-depth knowledge of EMPR compliance, permitting, and ISO 14001 maintenance
- Strong grasp of South African environmental legislation and permitting frameworks
- Competent in environmental risk assessments and stakeholder coordination
- Excellent written communication and reporting skills
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure Environmental Management Programme Reports are current and compliant
- Manage environmental permitting processes
- Maintain and improve ISO 14001 systems
Coordinate site sampling, risk registers, and authority reporting
