Cost Accountant

A well-established automotive components manufacturing operation, based in Port Elizabeth, requires an experienced Cost Accountant to take ownership of product costing, inventory control and cost reporting within its Factory Finance function.
This role is responsible for maintaining accurate standard and actual costing models, monitoring inventory valuation, supporting variance analysis and ensuring the integrity of costing data within the ERP system. You will work closely with the Plant Controller and operational teams to support budgeting, forecasting and continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.
Minimum Requirements
- BCom in Accounting, or Cost & Management Accounting (NQF6)
- Studying towards CIMA is preferred
- 3–7 years’ experience in a manufacturing or factory finance environment
- Proven experience in cost accounting, inventory valuation and variance analysis
- Experience working with ERP systems in a manufacturing setting; SAP FI & MM proficiency advantageous
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, specifically IAS 2 (Inventories)
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain standard costing information for raw materials, labour and overheads
- Prepare costing schedules, inventory valuations and monthly reporting
- Investigate cost and stock variances and escalate significant issues to the Plant Controller
- Verify Bills of Material (BOMs) and routing accuracy within the ERP system
- Support budgeting, forecasting and scenario analysis for manufacturing costs
- Maintain costing master data and support ERP system enhancements and testing
- Provide costing support to Production, Supply Chain and other operational departments
