HSE & Facilities Lead

A well-established manufacturing business in Cape Town is seeking an experienced HSE & Facilities Lead. This is a broad, site-facing role for someone who takes ownership of health, safety and environmental compliance while keeping facilities and infrastructure running reliably.
The environment is male-dominated and contractor-heavy. You will be firm, fair and confident managing people at all levels. The role includes direct oversight of a Facilities Coordinator.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma or degree in OHS, Environmental Management, Facilities Management, Engineering or a related field — HSE certification (NEBOSH, SAMTRAC or equivalent) is an advantage, and having both is preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing, industrial or facilities environment
- Sound working knowledge of the OHS Act; ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 used as a benchmark
- Proven facilities management, maintenance coordination and contractor management experience
- Familiarity with CMMS or EHS software advantageous
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain HSE policies, site standards and compliance frameworks
- Lead incident and near-miss investigations through to corrective action closure
- Oversee planned and reactive maintenance of buildings, utilities and site infrastructure
- Manage and mentor the Facilities Coordinator
- Ensure full statutory compliance with OHS Act, fire codes and environmental legislation
- Drive continuous improvement through visible safety leadership and proactive facilities management
