A manufacturing operation requires a seasoned Electrical Technician to support plant reliability, equipment performance, and safe production delivery. The role focuses on maintaining automated systems, resolving technical faults, and ensuring optimal uptime across electrical, PLC, and robotic installations. This position suits a hands-on technician who thrives in a production-driven environment and can balance reactive maintenance with preventative and continuous improvement initiatives.
 
Minimum Requirements
  • National Diploma in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (NQF 6).
  • Qualified Artisan with a recognised Trade Test.
  • 5–8 years’ experience as an Electrical / Electronic Technician within a manufacturing environment.
  • Practical experience working with PLCs, robotics, and automated systems is essential  
  • Working knowledge of ERP and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Computer literacy in MS Office.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Execute planned, preventative, and breakdown maintenance to ensure maximum equipment availability.
  • Diagnose faults, perform repairs, and conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and programme PLCs and robotic equipment.
  • Ensure all maintenance documentation and job cards are completed accurately.
  • Support production by maintaining machine capability and process stability.
  • Provide technical assistance across departments as required.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, compliance, and operational procedures.
  • Monitor expenditure, identify cost-saving opportunities, and operate within budget controls.
  • Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders to deliver reliable technical service.
