A specialist energy operator is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer to lead the operation, maintenance, and optimisation of gas (LFG) power generation assets. This field-based role demands extensive travel and overnight stays, offering a high-impact opportunity for a technically proficient engineer to drive plant reliability, maximise electrical output, and reduce operating costs.
You will deliver routine, planned, and preventative maintenance on generator sets and associated plant, undertake fault diagnosis and overhauls, and re-commission equipment. You will play a pivotal role in strengthening in-house maintenance capability, reducing contractor dependency where economically justified, and supporting the development of Operations Technicians.
Key Requirements
- Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience
- Hands-on maintenance experience with generator sets and heavy mechanical plant
- Fault diagnosis and troubleshooting across mechanical and basic LV electrical systems
- Proven ability to work independently across multiple sites with travel commitments
- Experience supervising contractors and training operations staff
- Robust understanding of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance
