Maintenance Fitter

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Fitter to join the Technical Services team. You will be responsible for ensuring equipment is kept in optimal working condition, attending to mechanical breakdowns, and performing planned changeovers to minimise downtime and maintain production efficiency. This role is critical to supporting smooth operations in a fast-paced production environment.
Qualifications & Knowledge
- Grade 12 and/or a recognised Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal) as a Fitter.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a production environment, preferably in beauty, FMCG, or related industries.
- Previous exposure to packing and filling equipment will be advantageous.
- Proficient in MS Excel and MS Access.
Skills & Competencies
- Capable of compiling accurate maintenance reports.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with sound numeracy and literacy.
- Organised, punctual, and able to work under pressure.
- Team-oriented with good interpersonal skills and the ability to suggest improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct production line changeovers with minimal disruption.
- Perform machine repairs, preventative maintenance, and minor adjustments.
- Support building maintenance and assist semi-skilled artisans with equipment repairs.
- Operate and monitor essential services (compressors, chillers) daily.
- Complete planned maintenance job cards, checklists, and defect reporting.
- Identify and report critical spares required for replacement or ordering.
Liaise with suppliers/contractors to ensure compliance with company procedures
