Reporting to the CEO the Operations Executive will be responsible for the entire operations value chain for Distribution nationally. Our client is seeking a dynamic, energetic and passionate executive.  As a key member of the Executive Committee, you will be responsible for the operational day to day activities as well as the growth and profitability of the business nationally. 

This role participates, executes and manages the national branch strategy by driving processes to achieve maximum quality, productivity and efficiency within the Group. 10 years executive experience in managing a business with full responsibility for all operational aspects of the business within a Distribution/Logistics/Freight high volume business. You will be able to demonstrate your hands-on approach to operations coupled with strong organisational, strategic planning and reporting skills.

• Relevant Tertiary Qualification 
• Bachelors’ degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management will be an advantage
• Extensive knowledge of the distribution/logistics/freight/high volume sector
• Minimum 10 years experience in operation with a large branch network nationally 
• Minimum 10 years Generalist Operational Management Skills
• At least 3 years experience serving on an Executive Committee
• Proven ability to understand and interpret financial information
• Expert user in MS Excel
• The ability to professionally manage, motivate & display individual leadership qualities
• Excellent delegation skills
• Ability to negotiate in tough circumstances
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
• Project Management capabilities
• Strategic Leadership capabilities
• Hands-on individual
• Fluent in English
• Ability to travel and work extended hours (including weekends).

Job Duties

Key Result Areas:
• Managing and developing the South African regions in terms of branch operations 
• Manage Operational Costs 
• Overseeing budgets and forecasts and managing cost to deliver set margins
• Manage Cell captive to achieve the set targets with the Commercial and Risk Executives
• Effectively manage the Owner Driver scheme and 3rd parties to optimise costs and margins
• Effectively manage the Customer Service Contact Centre per set targets 
• Ensuring that good customer relationships, operating standards and service levels are maintained
• Staying fully aware of all branch activities and especially deviations and non-conformances 
• Manage late deliveries and undelivered as per set targets
• Communicate operational issues and solutions pro-actively to all branches 
• Regions are managed and maintained according to the Company’s set KPI’S
• Ensure full support to the SHEQ department by maintaining Quality Operating Procedure compliance and coordinating Branch Audits together with the SHEQ Department
