Reporting to Service Delivery Manager our client is seeking a Veritas Certified IT Engineer to join their service delivery team. Essential that you have your own reliable transport, internet at home. Position is a combination of WFH and the office.
Qualification, Experience 7 Skills
- Minimum of a GR 12
- Veritas Certified (Veritas VCS NetBackup 8.0 Administrator or Higher)
- 2-5 years Enterprise Backup Solution experience
- Backup software support will be advantageous.
- A+ / N+ or CompTIA IT fundamentals.
- MS Office literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook essential)
- Self-motivated and can work within a team
- Ability to work independently and meet daily tasks
- Ability to work under pressure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
Key Role Responsibilities
- Daily checks of backup status
- Check disk pool available space
- Notify and liaise with customers on Backup failures and rectify all Backup failures
- Escalate issues or problems that cannot be rectified by the Service Delivery Team
- Tape Management
- Compile a daily backup failure report (Snag list) for the customer and weekend snag list
- Perform ad-hoc requests from the customer (restores / add-remove servers from backups / re-run failed backups etc.
- Weekly Success rate report comments
- Monthly Restore tests for the customer
- Manage Backup Register for the customer
