This role develops and executes advanced aerial survey programmes, interprets spectral data to provide crop-health insights, and builds analytical models to inform irrigation, nutrition, yield forecasting, and early stress detection.
Qualifications
- BSc in Agriculture, Agronomy, Remote Sensing, Geomatics, Environmental Science or Computer Science.
- Master’s degree advantageous (Precision Agriculture, GIS or Remote Sensing).
- Valid SACAA RPL; ROC-compliant operations.
- GIS certification is beneficial.
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5 years in agricultural drone technology, remote sensing, or precision farming.
- Proven expertise with multispectral cameras (MicaSense/Parrot Sequoia) and processing tools (Pix4D, ENVI, Agisoft).
- Advanced Python/R coding for image analysis and machine learning.
- Strong agricultural insight, ideally with perennial or tropical crops.
- Ability to work in demanding field environments and interpret complex agronomic datasets.
Key Focus Areas
- Plan and execute compliant UAV flights, including multispectral, thermal and RGB imaging.
- Analyse and interpret drone-captured data (NDVI, crop-stress indicators, vigour indices).
- Build coding workflows (Python/R) for image processing, predictive modelling and dataset automation.
- Integrate GIS mapping for variable-rate applications, resource optimisation and field-level decision-making.
- Produce reports, dashboards and training for farm teams.
