Maintenance Specialist

Port Shepstone. An exceptional opportunity exists for a Maintenance Specialist to join a high-performing engineering team and report to the Preventive Maintenance Manager. This role is critical in ensuring operational continuity and safety across the plant and mining operations. You will lead the planning and execution of preventive maintenance, coordinate shutdowns, and drive optimal resource allocation through SAP and technical best practices.

Minimum Requirements:
- Matric with Mathematics (essential)
- SAQA Accredited N5 (Electrical/Mechanical) or equivalent technical qualification
- 5+ years’ maintenance experience in a heavy engineering environment
- 5+ years’ experience in shutdown planning and plant maintenance
- Proficient in SAP MRP, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Fluent in English (verbal and written)
- Strong communication, planning, and coordination skills
Preferred/Advantageous:
- Recognised Trade Test qualification
- Construction or mining plant experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate all maintenance operations, including weekly and major shutdowns.
- Define maintenance methodology and allocate resources accordingly
- Optimise plant reliability through detailed capacity planning and backlog management
- Maintain compliance with legal, SHEQ, and company standards
Drive continuous improvement in maintenance systems, materials, and documentation
