Job Description

Our client is seeking an individual who is able to manage, delegate and lead the Maintenance team. Key soft skills include effective communication skills and the ability to transfer skills and develop the staff who report to you.  It is essential that you have a  minimum of 10 years’ experience in the same/similar position within the manufacturing sector of which 5 years in a “heavy-duty machinery” environment.

Key Qualifications and Experience Required 
• Qualified Engineer 
• Authorised Gas Practitioner would be ideal, however, training will be provided
• Arc furnace/degassing plant experience 
• Forge Shop experience: Furnaces, Pneumatic hammers, Ringmills, Open Die Presses 
• Heat Treatment: Furnaces, straightening presses, reelers 
• Band Saw repairs experience 
• Boring Mill repairs experience 
• Lathes and CNC machining centre experience and repairs. 
• Good hydraulic experience – troubleshooting. 
• Forklift Repairs 
• Installation and commissioning of heavy equipment and machinery 
• Good Knowledge of cooling 
• General maintenance experience 
• Overhead crane experience 
• Experience in planning, drafting and implementing procedures  
• Occupational Health & Safety knowledge 
• Have a basic understanding of Labour Law and HR Procedures  

Job Duties

Key Result Areas
• Maintenance fitting on machines and repairs to machines 
• Maintenance and improvement of housekeeping 
• Control of cost and budgeting in section 
• Produce reports
• Planning, control of all weekend and shutdown work. 
• Supervision and control of all contractors 
• Preparations of requisitions for spares and consumables as required on site
• NCR’s and investigations of incidents and accidents in the Maintenance Department 
• Maintain records of all repairs and servicing on all machinery, mobile or stationery 
• Updating and keeping of legal registers as required by law – OHSH act 
• Any other work-related duties required by management from time to time
