Credit Manager

A senior Credit Manager is required to take full ownership of the organisation’s credit risk, debtor management, and governance framework within a manufacturing or FMCG-driven environment. This role balances commercial enablement with disciplined risk control, ensuring sustainable sales growth, strong cash flow, and full compliance with the National Credit Act and POPIA.
The position is responsible for credit policy development, customer risk assessment, management of the large debtor book, collections performance, oversight of contract administration, and audit readiness. You will work closely with Sales, Finance, Legal, and Executive leadership to provide data-driven insights, strengthen internal controls, and contribute to broader business strategy.
This role suits a decisive, structured leader who can protect margin, reduce risk, and strengthen governance while supporting growth.
Qualifications
  • National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting (NQF 7)
  • Credit Management Diploma (Institute of Credit Management of South Africa) – highly advantageous
 
Experience
  • 5–8 years’ progressive experience in credit control/credit management
  • Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or management role
  • Experience within a manufacturing, FMCG, or sales-driven environment
  • Proven track record in managing large debtor books and trade credit risk
 
Technical Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong credit risk assessment and credit policy management expertise
  • In-depth understanding of the National Credit Act (NCA) and POPIA
  • Solid financial analysis skills, including interpretation of customer financial statements
  • ERP system proficiency (SAP, Syspro, Oracle, or similar)
  • Advanced MS Excel and management reporting capability
  • Commercially astute with strong business and financial acumen
  • Proactive, structured, and comfortable operating in complex, regulated environments
 
Governance, Risk & Compliance
  • Experience operating within structured corporate governance frameworks
  • Exposure to internal and external audits and implementation of corrective action plans
  • Strong internal controls mindset across credit, collections, and contract administration
Knowledge of regulatory compliance, SHEQ standards, and labour legislation
