About this job

Reporting to the Production Manager you will assume perform the following tasks:

  • Ensure production plan is met as per requirements with the required yield
  • Handle & carry out procedures & requirements of HACCP and ISO 2200 Accreditation, with full control of the paper trail.
  • Compliance with all relevant aspects of safety as per the OSHACT
  • Ensure hygiene and housekeeping is maintained at required levels
  • Keep all operating expenses in line with the budget – labour, overtime, material variances, (KPI’s)
  • Leading, controlling, coaching, motivating and training of the production team to meet KPI’s.
  • Labour – Shifts, control overtime, time and attendance, and absenteeism and report on this at shift and Production meeting.
  • Keep production facility in the state of readiness for any food hygiene/safety audit
  • Take corrective action on any finding for audits carried out in the facility
  • Ensuring all raw materials required for the production plan have been made available and reporting any shortages timeously so as to allow for corrective action.
  • Ensure all machinery is ready for the start of the shift.
  • Be able to make quick adjustments to production plan caused by outside factors but still ensure compliance to plan – i.e. planning
  • Drive continuous improvement activities to improve overall labour utilization
  • Ensure that SOPS and documentation requirements are carried out for the following areas: Incoming Raw materials, Production, Booking of stock into the system, Recording of finished goods
  • Manage and control all quality-related issues to avoid spoilage and contamination
  • Training regarding Food Safety principles, Hygiene, cleaning procedures and operational SOP’s must be followed strictly and at all times.

 



Skills Required

Education

  • Food tech or Production Management Diploma

 

Essential Experience and Skills  

  • Will be required to work night shift and weekends
  • Microsoft Office skills – Excel/Word/PowerPoint
  • Good planning and organizing skills
  • Good organizational and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Able to motivate and take corrective action to manage teams to meet KPIs
  • Good leadership abilities
  • Able to work under pressure
