The role of the DC Manager will be responsible for the leadership and commercial development of the Supply Chain service and contributing to the wider success of the Customer Operations team. This role will be responsible for leading the delivery of efficient and effective service, enabling the team to achieve both company and client-driven measures and outcomes. Whilst ensuring the service is financially viable, growing and, at all times, meeting the contractual and legislative requirements.

Key Result Areas

Manage the total operation of warehousing, distribution, and admin for the distribution centre

  • Management of picking, checking, and warehousing efficiencies
  • Management of inventory
  • Management of Loss control, shrinkage, damages
  • Management of Pallets
  • Labour management
  • Implement HOD KPI’s and monthly reviews
  • Ensure all KPI’s are aligned to the Distribution Centre strategic indicators
  • Introduce Key Performance area’s in the warehouse, and daily KPI’s measured and updated
  • Maintain Health & Safety standards
  • Ensure routing and distribution efficiencies are managed to the highest level
  • Asset control and management - vehicles, IT and racking.
  • Investigate Loss Control and implement improvement strategies and controls

 



Skills Required

Education

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Tertiary Qualification in Logistics/ Road Transport Management

Essential Experience

  • 7 years in a senior supervisory or middle management position.
  • 10 Years or more experience in Logistics
  • FMCG / Retail sector experience would be ideal
  • Transport/Logistics experience
  • Knowledge of NBCRFI Agreement
  • Relevant Road Traffic Legislation
  • Advanced Microsoft Office – Excel, Word
