About this job

Our client is seeking a strategic commercially minded individual (Expat) who, preferably based in Zimbabwe will play a ‘leader of leaders’ role in the managing of precious metal assets.

You will be required to deep dive in the business and get to know the assets first-hand, as a result, you will be required to travel to the areas within Zimbabwe where the assets are kept. A trip to the mines will take about 3 – 4 days. It is important to note that the expectations are that you will be based and available to travel locally within Zimbabwe from Mondays to Fridays

As CEO you will report directly into the Board. Your primary role is to take responsibility for the management of the business and affairs for the Corporation. You will be required to manage the Corporation in an effective, efficient and forward-looking way. Fulfill the priorities, goals, and objectives determined by the Board in the context of the Corporation's strategic plans, budgets, and responsibilities to increase shareholder value.

Key Result Areas:

  • Develop and maintain the Corporation's goal to operate to the highest standards of the industry;
  • Provide quality leadership, support, coordination, and guidance to direct reports and employees
  • Provide high-level policy options, orientations and discussions for consideration by the Board;
  • Together with the Board, maintain existing and develop new strategic alliances and consider possible merger or acquisition transactions with other mining companies which will be constructive for the business and will help enhance shareholder value;
  • Implement, oversee and guide the investor relations program, which shall, among other things, ensure communications between the Corporation and major stakeholders, including and most importantly the Corporation's shareholders, are managed in an optimum way
  • Provide timely strategic, operational and reporting information to the Board and implement its decisions per good governance, with the Corporation's policies and procedures, and within budget;
  • Act as an entrepreneur and innovator within the strategic goals of the Corporation;
  • Coordinate the preparation of an annual business plan or strategic plan;
  • Implement workplace policies and procedures that ensure compliance with relevant regulatory bodies and legislation
  • Provide a culture of high ethics throughout the organization;

 



Skills Required

Education and Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • 10-15 years of relevant experience

Demonstrate the following skills:

  • Ability to facilitate collaboration and interaction with individuals and groups including contractors, suppliers, and vendors
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Effective and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to distill complicated technical topics into messages for all audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with all levels of the business
  • Highly effective organizational skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently in a results-oriented environment
