Lead the Group Strategy in respect of Operations and revise as necessary to improve current business performance and deliver a strategy that includes the following; Market trends and dynamics, company’s competitive position, opportunities - Strategy for the medium term (5 years)

Key Result Areas:

  • Cohesive view for each Channel of Trade of how to win and delivering a 5-year Financial Shape by Channel of Trade
  • Develop strategic insights into the existing business & geography.
  • Establish a regional view of competitor activity, strategic intent and monitor competitive moves and external market trends and amend the strategy accordingly.
  • Explore and define growth opportunities aligned to the Strategy and develop the economic value attributable to individual strategy options.
  • Manage store specific strategies, sales through and under-performing stores via sales team
  • Monthly store performance reviews with region, construct corrective plans , manage and monitor
  • Achieve BU sales targets
  • Brand health management
  • Design & execute strategic promotional initiatives
  • Manage Promotional Grid
  • Manage execution of promotional plan - Follow up on current and upcoming promos
  • Effective operations management
  • Financial management (operational budgets)
  • HR / IR
  • Manage and grow relationship between customer and suppliers

Skills Required

Educational background

  • Completed tertiary qualification (Business/Sales/Marketing)

Experience and Skills

  • A minimum of 5 years' FMCG experience at Supervisory/Management level
  • Sound knowledge of FMCG / Retail / Wholesale / Merchandising industry experience essential
  • Strong field marketing knowledge coupled with a commercial mind-set
  • Excellent networking skills - a high level of interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Eye for business, commercial experience and knowledge
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of Financials with a high attention to detail
  • Accurate and numerate and with the ability to both conceptualise and translate concepts into operational actions.
  • Ability to turn data into useful and significant management information and insights and to present it effective
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel)
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Ability to travel essential
