Reporting to the Operations Manager you will assume responsibility to ensure Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Standards are properly developed, implemented and managed. Must be willing to travel local and nationally on a regular basis (JHB, PE, Durban and Cape Town)

You will be required to supervise and coordinate work systems to ensure that the products and services of the company meet the highest quality standards while maintaining a safe and favourable work environment.

Key Results Areas:

  • Lead, develop and maintain Company SHEQ management programs and systems in written format through recording, face to face contact, communication and team briefing.
  • Support line Management in delivering Site SHEQ objectives on all sites
  • Evaluate current implemented systems to determine the strategic direction and work priorities in conjunction with line management for the continuous improvement of the SHEQ Management program.
  • Advises line management and assists with the implementation of new or existing SHEQ-related legislation, rules and Company standards
  • Complete prevention inspections on a regular basis and ensure records are maintained.
  • Perform Incident and Accident investigations and ensure documentation is updated
  • Share and monitor success of monthly SHEQ Communication Strategy for all sites and levels of staff, to include written information, toolbox talks and management briefs.
  • Assist Line Management with implementation of formal Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment, root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodology.
  • Perform internal SHEQ audits on all sites and ensure documented results are properly managed
  • Assist all Line Managers with preparations for annual SHEQ audits
  • Work with HR department to initiate and coordinate approved training plan.
  • Advise line management in Warehouse, Office and retail stores on Safety, Health, Environment and Quality matters and manage this process to ensure all advise provided is incorporated into day to day processes and operations.
  • Produce and coordinate the yearly SHEQ action plan and longer term SHEQ roadmap, prepare reports for monthly update to Management.
  • Provide training on SHEQ related matters including food safety standards to all employees


Skills Required

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a SHEQ Management Role with Line Management Experience
  • 5 years’ experience (Must have) as a SHE or SHEQ Officer in General Safety Industry with 100 or more employees
  • FB /Retail sector experience essential
  • Indepth understanding of and the ability to interpret SHEQ related legislation, Company Standards and program requirements in order to pass knowledge and requirements to others.
  • System development and implementation experience
  • Willing to travel local and nationally on a regular basis (JHB, PE, Durban and Cape Town)
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Strong risk assessment skills
  • Strong training skills
  • Own reliable transport.
