The role is a technical marketing role to define, create and research appropriate technical marketing insights to drive the marketing, sales and product development of products and propositions, including understanding what the market is doing and identifying the product development, reformulating or restructuring opportunities of new or existing products to changing clients’ needs.

Key Result Areas:            

  • Compile technical marketing insights, propositions and positioning to guide the marketing of product propositions through the marketing team and sales initiatives.
  • Give insights and input into as well as assist product development actuaries with designing new products.
  • Co-ordinate and implement all Life Risk & Investment initiatives, in all channels.
  • Provide specialist Life Risk & Investment product, training and marketing support to the Sales and Distribution channels.
  • Work with Sales and Distribution managers to put in place Sales strategies in each market segment, for both product lines.
  • Provide advanced Life Risk & Investment training to the channels.
  • Responsible for communicating the ‘marketing message’ into the channels.
  • Work with the marketing manager to reach the correct target market for product lines through the various channels.
  • Attain product sales targets through the various channels
  • Responsible for providing competitor information and marketing opportunities.
  • Provide industry specialist information.
  • On occasion, provide specialist investment support to intermediaries on structuring of large investment deals with clients. This may involve joint calls.
  • Partner with the company’s top Broker and Direct Sales Investment writers, to ensure both ongoing support and an appropriate understanding of Investment products.


Skills Required


  • Relevant degree in commercial or legal fields.
  • CFP or CFA an advantage.


  • Five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in technical Life Risk & Investment Marketing
  • Experience in the financial planning environment, as well as needs-based selling


  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Life Risk & Investment products
  • Life Risk & Investment Benefit landscape, including competitors and their products
  • Industry, environmental, compliance and legislative requirements
  • Serve as a source of industry knowledge.
  • Recognise how key industry issues impact clients’ buying decisions.
  • Provide authority for legal opinions and commentary.
  • Recognise how key industry issues impact clients’ buying decisions.
  • Prepare and customise presentations, according to Marketing manager and target audience requirements.
  • Research and actively market against competing products.
