Our client who has national representation is seeking a qualified HR Manager to assume responsibility for all the branches in the Western Cape. Reporting to the Group HR Manager you will assume responsibility for providing support in the various human resource functions. Ideally you will be strong in the area of Industrial Relations and on statutory reporting.

Key Result Areas

Industrial Relations

Consult with managers on all issues relating to Labour & Industrial Relations ensuring good governance with policies and procedures as well as to the labour law. Assist managers with disciplinary processes and drafting of warnings where necessary. Draft charges for disciplinary hearings and schedule hearings where necessary. Identify IR training needs for the group. Case management. Manage DoL inspection process and requirements for all branches. Manage/Supervise junior IR/ER staff and ensure goals and deadlines are met. Review death claim recommendations prior to presentation to sub-committee

Employment Equity

Monthly EE reporting and prepare annual EE report for submission to DoL. Monitor recruitment, promotions, succession planning within BU from an EE perspective. Schedule and act as committee secretary for Workplace Employment Equity and Training Committee

Benefits Administration

Assist employees and managers with questions concerning employee benefits. Assist employees with death & disability claims, retirement claims etc


Determine staffing needs, numbers and skills required to meet the organisation's staffing objectives. Analyse the skills and knowledge required for each job and develop job descriptions with department managers. Advertise vacancies, assess applications, interview applicants, administer selection assessments, prepare reports and make recommendations to management about staff appointments

Employee Wellness

Manage the Wellness Programme encompassing HIV/Aids Awareness Training & treatment as well as general disease prevention & counselling. Create and roll-out annual calendar of wellness events. Responsible for initiating and drafting communication on events. Schedule roadshows to other branches. Ensure weekly and monthly reporting is submitted


Prepare monthly HR reports

EE reporting and plan management

BBBEE reporting

Prepare ISO audit report and action findings

Assist with roll out of special projects

Update all HR documentation and forms

Assist with running of a comprehensive induction for new employee into the Policies & Procedures of the Group and a general introduction to the benefits and culture


Skills Required


  • HR Diploma or Degree


  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong IR skills and experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience with creating analytical reports
  • Above average Excel skills
  • Ability to work with speed and accuracy
  • Experience with project planning and administration
