About this job

Our client is seeking a deadline driven and customer centric Manager to lead the Planning division. Production Planning experience within a packaging environment is essential. You will be an individual that is systems orientated and be flexible to travel between the Durban and Cape Town operations.

Responsible for managing the printing production planning to ensure optimisation and efficient utilisation of all production facilities. Ensuring that the business delivers exceptional service to customers through managing the teams responsible for processing orders, planning jobs and maintaining communication with both the sales and production teams, as well as the customer.

Key Result Areas:

  • Plan all work with Production Heads to optimise efficient and effective machine utilisation in terms of customers’ requirements.
  • Analyse available production capacity for each cost centre.
  • Monitor delivery date on the system and confirm delivery date to client and sales executive.
  • Create production schedules and reports for department heads for each cost centre and continually communicating changes and updates.
  • Ensures all raw materials are at the relevant machines on time and in full (paper, ink, plates) by using the system.
  • Maintain and update production loadings and scheduling on the system and production board.
  • Monitor and identify all variations in production against job specifications and communicate such variations to the respective managers, so that they can devise solutions.
  • If production variation does not satisfy job plan, then communicate the extended delivery date to the relevant parties.
  • Generate daily despatch reports for all departments.
  • Generate appropriate system status reports, for both internal and external users.
  • Planning Manager is to initiate and conduct daily production meetings

 



Skills Required

Education

  • Matric
  • Relevant qualification in either Industrial Engineer, Operations Management and/or Supply Chain Management

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a planning environment
  • High level of skills with the PrintVis (or equivalent) system
  • knowledge of P.O.S. i.e. product knowledge.
  • Knowledge of printing processes and all equipment in the group.
  • Knowledge of production processes, stores / warehouse management.
  • Knowledge of multiple print and production processes
  • ERP system knowledge and implementation experience
  • Computer literate – MS Office
  • Solid excel knowledge for the Formulation of spreadsheets
  • Strong leadership qualities in a pressurised time based, quality focused profitable environment
