About this job

Our client is seeking a candidate that displays an entrepreneurial’ approach to the requirements of the position. Responsible for the strategic input and negotiating best raw material prices to win new business as well as retaining and grow existing business achieving profit objectives.

You will be further responsible to assess and manage working capital risk and negotiate and monitor service level and stock holding agreements with key customers and suppliers, and to continuously strive to strategically expand, preserve or improve value adding service delivery and cost control processes while ensuring regulatory guidelines are adhered to.


Business Acumen: must be highly aware of commercial business and understand full-scale business principles

  • Overseeing financial KPIs
  • Plays a strategic role in analysing pricing models against competitor pricing and align competitive estimating standards in conjunction with the Estimating team and Production performance capability.
  • Conduct analysis on throughput sales and material usage by product and press to identify strategic focus areas for improvement.
  • Responsible for strategic procurement to ensure budgeted material percentage is achieved. Management of raw material stock and WIP in line with budgets.              
  • Reviewing and developing operational process flows - Provide support to production management with researching business systems and proposing improvement strategies thereby improving productivity and efficiency within the project time frame allocated.  
  • Responsible for performance management of staff ensuring that they follow similar principles to support business revenue growth and profit objectives.
  • Develop open and effective communication with the General Manager, all Management teams, support staff, external customers and suppliers.                                                        

Business Development: develop contracts and networks with potential customers and thereby assist the division to reach its sales targets

  • Management/mentoring/training of Commercial Team - Develop a high performing service team culture that prioritises the customer experience and focus on team work, service excellence and ownership for resolving customer issues.
  • Review all contracts and negotiate key elements of current contracts and those being tendered for.
  • Ensuring that all stakeholders understand and adhere to contractual obligations and that the financial aspects and impact of a contract are clear to all parties

Skills Required


  • CIMA/CA qualification or Degree in Supply Chain Management is required

Knowledge Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience on commercial management, financial analysis and business processes, reporting and documenting.
  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment is essential
  • Candidates who have completed their studies must have strong people management skills and performance manage by process and statistical reporting.
  • Experience in delivering timeous and accurate management information in a challenging and dynamic commercial environment.
  • Good broad understanding of business processes and controls
  • Good appreciation of IT Systems and implementation skills
  • Have the ability to take a top-to-bottom view but also have a hands-on approach.
  • A very computerized financial and analytical individual
  • High level business acumen, familiar with financial IT and software/computer platforms,

  • Strong communication, inter-personal, leadership and business skills
  • Good team skills to work on group projects and other collaborative efforts.
  • Familiarity with database concepts, data structures, and the use of advanced reporting tools.
  • Planning and working flexibly to a deadline
  • Creative problem-solving skills,work well with minimal supervision, detail-oriented, highly organized and dependable.
  • Self-motivated person who takes the initiative to assume responsibility and ownership to obtain resolution.
  • Skill in analyzing and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze comprehensive business processes, perform in-depth work analyses and develop computer-generated flow charts.
