About this job


  • 3 Year B Degree or equivalent tertiary qualification with one of the following majors: Communication, English, Journalism and/or Advertising or a Copywriting diploma from an accredited marketing/advertising tertiary institution
  • Minimum of 4 years’ writing experience in a similar role and / or at an advertising agency
  • Exceptional command of English, both written and verbal
  • Copywriting experience, preferably within a retail and / or below-the-line environment
  • Varied copywriting skills, including accurate and exceptional grammar and spelling skills
  • Excellent computer literacy in InDesign and MS Office suite        
  • Proven experience in producing excellent copy with minimum guidance
  • Ability to work across a variety of media from print, brochures, posters and editorials to radio, TV and online videos
  • Conceptual skills (including promotions and competitions)
  • Digital experience (web copy, Facebook, emails, mobiz, SMS, blog posts, etc.)
  • Direct mail experience will be beneficial (writing customers letters)
  • Ability to simplify the complex and make it customer-friendly
  • Skilled at writing product copy that sells
  • Able to put presentations together and present your work
  • Able to edit, rewrite and proof copy

The ideal candidate for this role will be responsible for writing exceptional quality direct copy and conceptualizing of marketing campaigns.


Key responsibilities                              

  • Write interesting and effective sales copy for promotional materials, in accordance with merchandise briefs, within specified timelines. This copy to portray the products to maximise sales.
  • Work with creative team to create new promotions.
  • High quality copy to be produced, including virals, banner ads, magazine articles and many more.
  • Manage various projects in addition to writing work
  • Manage additional ad hoc tasks as required
  • Ensure quality control and flow of logic throughout campaigns
  • Proof own work and that of others and ensure work is error-free and displays exceptional attention to detail.
  • Drive brainstorms and lead meetings where required
  • Help Copy Manager to mentor junior writers
