Reporting directly to the MD. Diesel Mechanic trade tested with a min of 8 years' mechanical experience with workshop management experience. Essential to be experienced on pneumatics, hydraulics, motor, electric and Diesel engines.

As Technical Manager you will focus and deal with all aspects of the company’s full supply chain, operations of vehicle conversions, all mechanical aspects in the group and all mechanical equipment requirements.

Key Result Areas

  • Assist and co-ordinate all installations of all equipment and ensure that installations adhere to supplier’s standards as well as prescribed South African and International standards and Acts
  • Ensure that all certification and compliances are adhered to at any installation.
  • Implement technical reports and checklists for vehicle installations and refurbishment of equipment.
  • Do weekly and monthly equipment and pipework inspections at all workshops for vehicle installations, services and refurbishment of equipment.
  • Be available for general and emergency call outs to all sites.
  • Ensure maintenance of all equipment, vehicle installations and refurbishment of equipment including pipelines, is carried out regularly and perform regular inspections.
  • Ensure that necessary spare parts for vehicle installations, services and refurbishment of equipment are kept in stock to deal with routine maintenance and minor breakdowns for all operating companies' requirements.
  • Assist with implementing policies and procedures and ensure systems are in place.
  • Liaise with customers' technical staff, workshop managers and owners ensuring positive working relationships are maintained
  • Supply control, including controlling the, stock, losses, vehicle installations, services and refurbishment of equipment.
  • Giving feedback to the Management on the status and maintenance relating to equipment and workshops.
  • Ensure that weekly and monthly reports are sent out on time and on pre-agreed dates.
  • To be the responsible person for the Health & Safety of employees and contractors working in the area of work and to abide by the Health & Safety Act of South Africa.
  • To comply with Company regulations regarding any accidents involving staff members, company property, visitors or customers on Company premises, and to immediately report to the Director I appointed person any Health & Safety hazards.

 

 



Skills Required

Minimum Requirements

  • Graduate diploma/ Diesel Mechanic trade tested N6
  • Minimum of 8 years' mechanical experience with workshop management experience
  • Must have experience on pneumatics, hydraulics, motor, electric and Diesel Mechanic experience.
  • Preferably 3-5 years hands on technical experience working gas pneumatics and hydraulic systems
  • Computer literate on Excel, Word and Microsoft Outlook
  • Must have valid Code 14 driver's License and vehicle/ PDP Certification
  • Must be able to work on a shift basis and oversee the operations and staff
  • Understand all aspects of mechanical equipment for operations
  • Able to lead team of Technicians/ Workshop Managers and independently owned workshops.
  • Provide guidance and implementing systems and procedures
